EXCHANGE OPPORTUNITIES
We’re looking for men to step into leadership roles for both the preparation and the running of 3HO Men's Camp.
Full Exchanges allow you to participate in the camp at no cost and Partial Exchanges reduce the registration cost to $300 CAD (approximately $225 USD). Exchanges provide an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and give you an experience of working with other men in a conscious way. Accepting an exchange position may mean that you won’t be able to participate in all of the workshops and other activities.
We're currently accepting applications for the following roles:
Kitchen Support
PARTIAL EXCHANGE. PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE AN ASSET.
Kitchen support staff works with the Head Chef to keep the kitchen running smoothly.
You are responsible for cleaning, preparing and serving food. You will be working in the kitchen for about six hours each day and will often be required to miss or leave classes early to start preparing for meals.
Kitchen experience an asset, but not a requirement. You must be available to help set up and close down kitchen. You will need to arrive at the camp early (time to be confirmed) on July 14 and will likely be one of the last people to leave the camp on July 19.
Registration Support
PARTIAL EXCHANGE. PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE AN ASSET.
Registration support staff works with the registrar both before and during the camp to ensure that participants successfully register in the camp and to help coordinate transportation.
There are a total of three exchange positions available. Responsibilities include:
One man will be needed to manage the transportation of participants from Vancouver to Khalsa Centre and to liaison with the registrar from Vancouver on the first day of the camp (August 9, 2020). A valid driver’s license is needed as this man may be driving the van that’s being used to transfer the luggage to the camp. One to two hours of training will be provided prior to the camp.
Two men are needed at Khalsa Centre to assist with the registration process and to guide participants to the accommodations and tenting areas. Training will be provided prior to the camp and on-site at the camp.
The partial exchange may include responding to email inquiries regarding the camp.
While experience isn’t necessary, administration and coordination skills are an asset. It would also be helpful if you’ve been to a previous 3HO Men’s Camp.
Live Sound Engineer
FULL EXCHANGE. PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.
To qualify for this position you must have previous experience setting up, running, and troubleshooting a LIVE sound rig for multiple musicians and instruments. Audio recording experience an asset.
Your responsibilities include:
Being in charge of the sound mix (mics and iPod) for all classes, workshops, sadhanas, and gurdwara programs.
Helping to set up the sound system, mics and cables before the camp begins on August 9.
Dismantling the sound system after the camp ends on August 14.
The "Sound Guy" is always "on". You must be attentive to each teacher's requirements and the space they create, setting up the appropriate levels/fx etc. and often setting up mics on the fly.
Live Sound Assistant
FULL EXCHANGE. PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE AN ASSET.
The Assistant works closely with the Live Sound Engineer to setup, test, organize, and help where directed, often filling in on the mixing board.
While instruction will be provided, it would be very helpful if you have previous knowledge and experience with live sound gear. Mixing experience is also an asset, but not required.
You would need to arrive before the camp starts on August 9 to help with the sound setup. We would also need you to help dismantle the sound setup after the camp ends on August 14.
Grounds and Facilities Lead
FULL EXCHANGE. PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE AN ASSET.
The Grounds and Facilities Lead works under the guidance of the Grounds and Facilities Director.
To qualify for this position, you must agree to be at Khalsa Centre for early (time to be confirmed) on the first day of the camp (August 9). You must also agree to work at the camp on the last day (August 14) until the camp is all cleaned up, packed up, and has passed the inspection of the Khalsa Centre Care Taker.
Your responsibilities include:
The general setup and take down of the camp. This includes setting up and taking down the stages and decorations.
Moving tables, chairs, and anything else that may need to be moved, shifted, or taken care of to make the best use of the grounds and facilities for camp.
Working kindly and effectively with the Grounds and Facilities Director and the Khalsa Centre Care Taker.
Foreseeing and proactively dealing with any issues or needs related to Grounds and Facilities.
Ensuring that the camp spaces and building systems are running smoothly and always looking sharp.
You will have help for setup and take down duties and direction and support for all of the other duties. Please note that moderately heavy lifting may be required. Additional instructions will be provided.
Grounds and Facilities Assistant
PARTIAL EXCHANGE. PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE AN ASSET.
There is an exchange position available for someone available to work with just the setup and take down of camp.
To qualify for this position, you must agree to be at Khalsa Centre early (time to be confirmed) on the first day of the camp (August 9). You must also agree to work at the camp on the last day (August 14) until the camp is all cleaned up, packed up, and has passed the inspection of the Khalsa Centre Care Taker.
Karma Groups Lead
PARTIAL EXCHANGE. PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE AN ASSET.
The Karma Group Lead works under the guidance of the Karma Groups Director to ensure that the Karma Groups are flowing smoothly and have everything they need to work together effectively.
To qualify for this position, you must agree to work with the Karma Group Director and the Karma Group Leaders, and to oversee all the duties of the the Karma Groups – from the beginning of camp (July 14) until the end of camp (July 19). This includes managing the cleanup that’s performed by the Karma Groups at the end of the camp.
Your responsibilities include:
Organizing and coordinating the Karma Groups.
Overseeing the Karma Group’s duties and making sure they’re performed to a high standard and in a timely fashion.
Communicating with the Karma Group Leaders and the Karma Group Director to make sure all needs are being met and everything is flowing.
Additional instructions and support will be provided by the Karma Groups Director.
